For PTA and PTO boards
Free Math and Coding Resources
for Your School's Families
Three things are free for every family: Beginner Python, a self-paced coding course for grade 4 and up; online math sample tests from Math 1 to Algebra 2; and a placement assessment with one of our educators.
There is nothing for the PTA or PTO to run, collect or endorse. You share one link to a page for your school's families, and they take it from there.
For your PTA or PTO
Three Easy Ways to Let Your Families Know
Each one points to your school's own page. Families contact us directly, and there is nothing for the PTA or PTO to track.
A listing in your newsletter or enrichment catalog
Takes five minutes. We send a short, ready-to-paste listing and a one-page flyer with a QR code to your school's page.
A line in your parent group chats
One sentence and the link, ready to paste into class group chats, the parent email list or your social media page.
A parent information session
Online, 30 to 45 minutes, any evening. What falling behind in math looks like at each grade, what being under-challenged looks like, and what to do about each, with a live walk through a real class and the homework screen.

Catching up
For the Child Who Has Started to Struggle
A school classroom has to move at one pace. In a small Avatar group the teacher sees exactly where a child gets stuck and goes over it the same week. The course rebuilds the fundamentals the child missed, then keeps pace with school, so homework at school starts getting easier.
- Homework the child checks at once and tries again, instead of a page of red marks on Friday.
- A raised hand on any problem, so the teacher covers it in the next class.
Moving ahead
For the Child Who Finishes First and Waits
The advanced level of the same grade has harder problems, more reasoning and less repetition. The path goes as far as the child does: Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 in middle school, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus after, and Math Competition Prep for students who want to test themselves.
- Avatar proctors the Math Kangaroo contest for its students and runs a 20-week MOEMS prep track.
- A child can move up a level during the year when ready.
What a family gets
A Live Teacher Every Week, and Homework That Does Not Let a Wrong Answer Slide
A live class every week
A real teacher and a small group, live online. No driving, no pickup line.
Homework that answers back
Students type their answers and press Check. A right box turns green, a wrong one pink, and they fix it and try again. Each homework also prints as a worksheet for students who think better on paper.
A student portal
One place to join the class, open the week's slides and materials, do the homework and look back at every past week.
A parent portal
Attendance, each homework score the night it is done, quiz results and the problems the child asked the teacher about. Siblings sit side by side under one login.

The Avatar team
More Than Just Tutors
Avatar Learning Center was founded in 2020 by four women scientists with PhDs, and most of our instructors hold a PhD or a master's degree. Classes are small on purpose: a teacher who knows every child's work is the difference between a program a family tries and one they keep for years.
FAQs
Questions PTAs and PTOs Ask Us
Is this a free program?
The three resources at the top of this page are free. The live math and coding classes are paid, and families enroll in them directly; families who come through their school's PTA or PTO get a partner rate. Nothing is billed to the PTA, the PTO or the school, and we will not ask you to sign anything.
Is it only for children who are struggling?
No. Many of our students join because they are not challenged at school. Every grade runs at three levels, so a child who is behind and a child who is ahead are in different classes with different work.
Where and when are the classes?
Live online and interactive, after school, in the evenings and on weekends, Eastern Time. Grades K to 3 meet twice a week for an hour, grade 4 and up once a week for two hours. A family needs a laptop or tablet and a quiet spot.
